Here is a question for the chemists……..
Decolourization of KMnO4 solution by Fe(II) is used to confirm the presence of Fe(II) cations but Fe(III) does not give a positive reaction. However, a mixture of Fe(III) and Cu(II) decolourizes KMnO4 solution, producing results that correlates the presence of Fe(II). Hence, produces a false result. Any idea? Please join the discussion.
